I have been teaching for about 15 years, and for most of that time I taught primary-age children one-to-one or in small groups. In most cases, pupils had been selected by their schools as needing a boost, and it was my job to pinpoint the things that needed work and improve them. This means I have become highly-skilled at identifying children’s difficulties and taking them through the small steps they need to overcome them. I do this by using picture books and resources that make English more accessible to children that are struggling, building their confidence and skills.
