Tutor Profile - Jenny

Jenny has tutored my son, currently aged 10 and in year 5, since July 2015 for one hourly session a week to work on his writing. Jenny uses a tailored approach based on her extensive professional experience and thorough knowledge of the national curriculum. Her lessons are carefully structured to ensure maximum learning whilst retaining the child's interest. She uses a range of strategies to support my child's learning, reinforcing these each week with a focus on his individual learning style and needs. Jenny expects to work in partnership with parents, setting aside additional time before and after each lesson for discussion. She sets homework each week and devotes time to marking it and discussing areas for improvement with my son. Jenny's lessons are both varied and enjoyable, with topics ranging from Greek mythology to factual report writing. She has a patient and calm approach, and the bond she forms with her student enables them to gain confidence and take the next steps in their learning journey. In the 18 months that Jenny has worked with my son, he has made significant improvement and his school teacher expects home to exceed the expectations for his age once he is in year 6. Jenny's support has been vital in this process and I would highly recommend her to any parent of a primary school child.

Jenny tutored my 10/11 year old daughter from March 2014 to August 2015, to assist with improving her maths as she had fallen behind her peers at school. I would strongly recommend Jenny as a tutor. My daughters maths skills improved, Jenny was a thoughtful and engaging tutor and made an effort to understand our request and understand our daughters needs.

Jenny has been tutoring our son Max (now aged 9 and a half) in Numeracy and English since November 2013. Jenny is a truly exceptional tutor and has played a key role in helping our son to really progress and develop his confidence and ability. As an experienced former headteacher, Jenny knows exactly how to encourage children to learn and is adept at identifying where a particular method or technique is most effective in the circumstances and at adjusting her approach accordingly. She approaches her lessons and follow-up homework exercises in a practical and engaging manner and uses a combination of books and also her own additional exercises. Our son feels a real sense of achievement from his lessons and has developed from being a reluctant learner to a much more confident, engaged and independent student who looks forward to his lessons with Jenny each week.

Jenny tutored my son Lior, from July 2015 until July 2016. Jenny taught Lior Maths and we have seen Lior progressing greatly in this period. The learning experience was fun and friendly for Lior and I was very pleased with her teaching. I’m happy to recommend Jenny!
